About Us

Biggie Best may not be a young company, but its founding principles still apply in today’s modern world. Our team is committed to traveling the world, searching for unique finds and hidden treasures. The world is getting smaller, but finding true artists and creatives in far-off places requires dedication and love that all of us at Biggie Best share. We believe our journey is just beginning, and we are excited to share our finds with you all. We will never be trend-led, be bound by certain styles, or follow the herd. We promise to consistently present products that we truly love and that have a “story”. We hope you can join us for the journey.

Who We Are

Biggie Best was started almost 40 years ago in Cape Town, South Africa by Pru Pfuhl. The business started with one small retail store and eventually grew to become South Africa’s largest independent homeware retailer. Pru was awarded the title of South Africa’s business woman of the year and led the company to expand abroad where she opened over 120 franchised Biggie Best stores. Pru sold Biggie Best’s South African operation to the Coricraft conglomerate in 2018 and now focuses purely on product design and development for Biggie Best UK.

Biggie Best UK is very much a family business and is currently run my Pru’s son Mark and his wife Elena. Their shared love of travel and exploring leads them all over the world in the search for truly unique finds.

From the bustling streets of India and Vietnam, to the sunny skies of South Africa .Their love of “finding things” helps to create a product range which is curated with love and with care. We hope you enjoy shopping with us.

Elena & Mark live in Hampstead, London with their 2 daughters Anna & Matilda. Both girls seem to love playing with jewellery whilst making cushion forts, which is a good sign for the future.
